Skills & Competencies

Design for additive manufacturing

Using a wide range of mechanical design software including solidworks, Cero, Geomagics,  Materialise Magics, and Autodesk to design structures and components for additive manufacturing.

Additive manufacturing

Additive manufacturing of functional components. For example, nano- and micro- scale fabrication using two photon lithography, Atomic layer deposition and physical vapor deposition techniques, and mezo- and macro- scale using additive manufacturing techniques such as  selective laser sintering, and Polyjet technology.

Characterization

Optical Microscopy, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) suited with focused ion beam (FIB), and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) are the main characterization techniques mastered with hands-on experience. These techniques are crucial in understanding the microstructure-property relationship of advanced materials.

Testing

A variety of universal testing systems, Charpy and Izod Impact systems, macro,  micro, and nano-hardness testing systems, Dynamic mechanical analyzer among other testing techniques.

Numerical simulation

The use of a wide range of numerical simulation tools including Abaqus, Comsol, Ansys among other software.
