Biography

I am currently a Research Scientist in the Core Technology Platform at New York University, Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) leading the Advanced Manufacturing Center. The focus of my research is on investigating the interrelationship between materials, geometrical features, fabrication process, and mechanical properties of additively manufactured lattices and composites using different materials, fabrication techniques, and length scales. My research also focuses on the engineering application of additive manufacturing in different engineering disciplines.

Prior to joining NYUAD, I worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Khalifa University of Science and Technology Abu Dhabi, UAE, from which I also received my Ph.D. degree in Interdisciplinary Engineering with a focus on Additive Manufacturing in 2018. I received my M.Sc. in Material Science from Grenoble Institute of Technology, Grenoble, France, and my B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Hashemite University in Jordan.

Research interest

Additive Manufacturing

My ongoing research activities primarily focus on additive manufacturing of metallic and polymeric materials that can be used effectively in solving different engineering problems related to civil, aerospace, defense, healthcare, industrial and energy applications. This is pursued following an integrated approach that comprises design, fabrication, characterization, numerical simulation, and mechanical testing.

Product Development

Building on my previous experience, my plan for future research is to focus on the development of next-generation thermal management devices, advanced body implants, efficient mixers and feed spacers for water treatment, and several other AM-enabled advanced products.
